INDIA – The world’s largest and
most populous democratic country. Democracy refers to a system which involves
multiparty elections, representative government as well as a freedom of speech.
India is a democratic country under type “Parliamentary Republics”, where the
government is appointed by representatives.
The political scenario of India
has been set during Pre-Independence period, when the Indian National Congress
was formed in the year 1885. The main purpose of the Indian National Congress
was to struggle against the British rule and to bring independence for the
Republic of India. From bringing independence, the Congress party became the
dominant political party in 1947 post independence and became the only
political party in the Indian politics which was and is still led by The Nehru-Gandhi
family. The second largest political party is the Bhartiya Janta Party alias
BJP. Formed in year 1951 to promote the national issues and was never a home of
any political family like Congress had. The BJP has been led by various leaders
from Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee to the latest Nitin Gadkari.
The political India has been
really very interesting from 6 national level political parties to 59 state political
parties. And the main motto of these political parties has been “never to
support the governing party” rather than “support the growth of nation”. But
apart from politics, the faces behind this politics have always been a factor
to notice. Some of the most prominent and most important political personalities
had always made them notified. They are the POWER FACES OF INDIAN POLITICS..
Some of the Power faces and their effects on Indian Politics are discussed
under:
1 Balasaheb
Thackeray: Popularly known as Hindu Hriday Samrat or Shiv Sena Supremo. A
cartoonist by profession in his pre-political career. He formed Shiv Sena in
1966 to fight for the rights of people of Maharashtra state. He has been one of
the strongest people in the political circle of India. The financial capital of
India – Mumbai been his political power house. He had the complete hold on the
nerves over the political and social activities across Mumbai despite of any
political party ruling in Mumbai. He is known for his controversial statements
over Anti-Muslim and Non-Marathi nationals. Though he was never allowed to
participate in the elections by the election commission of India, he has always
been a deciding factor of the political changes in Maharashtra, especially
Mumbai. He was a candid person who was direct and critical speaker on any issue.
Shiv Sena has been in alliance with BJP in active politics in Maharashtra. He
has received immense love and respect from the people of Maharashtra, and that
was seen when his health got deteriorated and died on 17th November
2012.Will Shiv Sena will be same Post-Balasaheb Thackeray? Can his son Udhav
Thackeray be able to continue his regime in same aggression?
Sharad
Pawar: Popularly known as Saheb (Big Boss). He is the big boss of Indian
Politics. Separating from Indian National Congress in the year 1999, he founded
his own political party Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). He is the only
politician, who has never lost any single political election in his entire political
career. The only election he lost was of BCCI president against Mr Dalmiya.
Sharad Pawar is the most hated politician in India because of food inflation
and the suicides committed by farmers. The suicides committed by farmers never
affected his lavish lifestyle that made him fly to South Africa. He is the most
corrupt politician in India. Though, he was never directly involved in any of
the scams, but his involvement was always been felt by the Indian citizens.
During the narcoanalysis of Abdul Karim Telgi – the stamp paper scammer cited
Mr Pawar in his involvement in it. As a politician he has achieved full respect
from people for the work he did for Baramati and nearby areas. He has served as
Chief Minister of Maharashtra for 4 terms. Currently serving as cabinet
minister in the current Indian government. He is one of the POWER FACE OF
INDIAN POLITICS and with his presence in politics he can easily change the
political equation in India. He has also been linked with criminals such as
Pappu Kalani and Dawood Ibrahim. His presence in state and national politics
has always affected the political scenario. Though, there is no one who can
take his position post-Pawar period. Neither his daughter Supriya Sule, nor his
nephew Ajit Pawar is as effective as Sharad Pawar in the active politics as Mr
Pawar is. Will NCP survive Post-Pawar?
Smt. Sonia Gandhi: Popularly known as Madamji. She is ranked 6th in world’s powerful women in the world list and ranked 11 in world’s most powerful people. Wife of Ex-Prime Minister of India – Mr Rajiv Gandhi and she is currently the President of Indian National Congress and Chairperson of the UPA government. A lady who is said to be handling the government along with the Prime Minister and running the political puppet show. She is the longest serving president of the Congress party, which shows her control and hold over the nation’s politics. Sonia Gandhi is 11th most hated politician in India. In the era of accountability, people have not liked a person with power without taking any kind of responsibility. She took a turn, when she got a chance to lead the country as Prime Minister in 2004. But at the same time, she indirectly ruled the country by remote control. She has always being considered to be a corrupt politician and her indirect involvement in Commonwealth Games 2010, Delhi. It’s not only Sonia Gandhi, but her family members such as son Rahul Gandhi and son-in-law Robert Vadra has been involved in corruption, but still no action has been taken against them. She is POWER FACE of INDIAN POLITICS, as she is part of Nehru-Gandhi family – the oldest political family, her words has always changed the political equation in India. Though, her son Rahul Gandhi is equally involved in politics on National level, but he has no such control over politics the way Sonia Gandhi has.
Narendra Modi: The longest serving Chief Minister of Gujrat – 2001 to present. 11 successful years of Chief Minister Narendra Modi itself states him to be POWER FACE of INDIAN POLITICS. An aggressive politician with a thoughtful work and making Gujrat the most developed state in India. He has been very successful in his development work in Gujrat along with endorsement of the state from the corporate czars. Apart from his development, he has also been considered to be involved in the Gujrat riots. He is seen as a controversial leader not only in India, but in International politics. He is the 10th most hated politicians in India, especially in Delhi. The reform he brought in Gujrat is unforgettable, but his controversial and abusive statements are also unbearable and un-forgetful. Mr Narendra Modi is considered to be an eligible candidate for Prime Ministerial position after demolition or completion of current UPA government led by Dr Manmohan Singh. His presence in the politics can be easily felt and seen during the election rallies conducted by him in different states of India.
Can India will be able to find a Power Face who can change the equation and who can actually think for India and work for it without thinking about his state, his party and lastly HIS growth.
